The crawlspace of your home can become susceptible to moisture problems. Because we live in west Tennessee where excess moisture is common, we often deal with the growth of fungus and mildew in our homes. Over time, these unaddressed problems will continue to fester, and can ultimately lead to health problems for you and your family, as well as structural damage to your home.
Because we are dedicated to protecting your home, we offer a free moisture control evaluation, looking for signs of moisture problems that may lead to greater issues if left untreated. The most common signs of moisture control problems in your home include:
- Condensation on the interior glass of windows.
- Mildew spots on ceilings or in the corner of walls.
- Grayish water level marks on the walls of basements or crawl spaces.
Capable of causing significant damage to the health of your family, as well as the value of your home, moisture control is not a treatment you want to wait around to have.
We’ll Be In and Out in One Day!
Once we conduct our free moisture control evaluation and treatment has been deemed necessary, we will craft a custom treatment. This one-time treatment can be completed in just a few hours allowing you to get back to enjoying time with friends and family as soon as possible. We begin by:
- Treating the wood throughout your crawl space, spraying for brown rot and white rot fungi.
- Over the course of six weeks, the chemical treatment will soak into the wood and kill the fungus.
- If your home does not have a moisture barrier, we will install one.
- If needed, we offer an encapsulation process and will install a dehumidifier.
Prevent Property Damage Caused by Moisture
Although subterranean termites are the most damaging insect to wood, moisture can cause significantly more damage. Over time, moisture will take away the strength of the wood and the structure of the home, causing cracked walls.
As moisture makes its way up the walls and into the home, mildew, along with a musty odor can develop. Mold is typically next to follow, which can cause severe allergy attacks, as well as general fatigue and other health problems. Our goal is to stop any further damage while keeping your family out of harm's way.
A home that has high humidity in the crawlspace will naturally have to counter high humidity in the living space due to the natural flow of warm air rising. The list of adverse effects could never be fully exhausted; the good news is that there is a solution: Crawlspace Encapsulation.
Crawlspace Encapsulation is a means of sealing off all sources of moisture from entering into your crawlspace. The three main sources are humid outside air, moisture from the ground, and moisture that moves through outside foundation walls. After these moisture sources are blocked with heavy-duty barriers, a dehumidifier is installed to capture and remove any remaining moisture in the air. We proudly use Horizon Dehumidifiers that have proven to have excellent quality, dependability, and customer service.
